Turkish Combat Drone Joins Polish Manhunt

(MENAFN) After earning acclaim on warfronts, a renowned Turkish-made drone has now been employed in a new role — assisting in the pursuit of a dangerous fugitive.

According to a news agency, Polish law enforcement has engaged a Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicle in the ongoing search for a 57-year-old suspect believed to have killed two members of his family and disappeared into a secluded area in southern Poland.

The man, named as Tadeusz Duda, is alleged to have gunned down his daughter and her husband in the village of Stara Wieś, located near the town of Limanowa, as reported by the news agency.

After the double homicide, Duda escaped into the dense and mountainous forest close to the scene of the crime.

On Saturday, he was reportedly spotted and responded by firing at police officers, subsequently managing to vanish once more into the rugged terrain.

An extensive manhunt has since been initiated across the Małopolska province, involving several hundred officers, including elite counterterrorism squads, in an effort to apprehend the armed suspect.

On Sunday, Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, confirmed that military assistance had been authorized to bolster the police mission.

"At the request of the Malopolska governor, the BSP Bayraktar will assist in the search for a suspect in the murders near Limanowa, with FlyEye drones also on standby to provide support," Kosiniak-Kamysz declared on X.
